The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented its Special Emmy Citation, the first ever to be awarded, for this moving story of St. Michael's Special School in New Orleans and of the retarded children who go there.

The film focuses on the children, who, with patience and much love are given the foundations of a fruitful life of hope and fulfillment. The program also examines the unique problems faced by parents of retarded children.
